In the week beginning 18th November, a number of our volunteers supervised the siting of a marquee at Toddington and then the grit blasting of our frames and wheelsets. The contractors spent three days removing many years of rust and old paint.  The picture shows the bare metal. The contractors who did the grit blasting then continued the work by spraying the newly bare metal with a good coating of anti-corrosive paint.

The first picture showed the bare metal - and a very good coating of the blasting sand on the floor – our volunteers then had the task of clearing up over a ton of the sand before the painting could begin.

The image shows the frames with their coating of the green anti-corrosive.

The next step was a concerted effort by a team of volunteers to get some undercoat on top before the marquee was removed and the frames went back into the weather.

The last image shows the team at work or at least inspecting what they have done!
